Bella (BYLINED): How did you originally hear about BYLINED?
Kim: I am new to the Bylined community! I’ve just recently discovered Bylined, via Scott’s Instagram post.
We here at BYLINED love the this pizza brand, we order their pizzas weekly. We’ve even run a few Assignments for them over the past year or so which is why when we saw this video on Instagram, though we giggled initially at the buffoonery, it gave us pause.
As we were snacking on a large pepperoni, we asked ourselves… sure this is pure comedy. However, what if this exchange between customers went a step further?
Makes us wonder why brands run the risk of allowing their branded hashtags to be used, and potentially compromised, this way.
Before digital and social, the work of a creative agency was a relatively straight-forward process. Work with the client to build and maintain consistent messaging, then build creative to distribute that messaging using traditional media outlets – television, print, radio, and, depending on the client, billboard.
April 4 was a day of reckoning for 3rd party apps and advertisers that depend on Instagram’s API for user-generated content (UGC) curation and data.

When Amazon opened their doors back in the 90’s, it was a website that only sold books. And their focus wasn’t only on selling the NYT best sellers, Amazon also opened their doors to indie/micro publishers and authors, providing them a platform for exposure – and more importantly, a sales channel that was previously unavailable to them.
And for Amazon, it was an incredibly profitable move.
